Constantly challenge yourself

I can’t sing. I can’t really play an instrument. But I’ve always wanted to perform – somehow – in my own little world.

 

So for Christmas I asked for a ukulele…and I got one.

 

Thank God for all the kind, patient, non-judgmental video people out there in YouTube Land who have been helping me learn the basics. (And thank God for my kind, patient, half-deaf husband for listening to me learn.)

 

I recently joined a Rotary club, and I figured that if I’m going to join something, and go to meetings at (good Lord help me) 7:00 am on Tuesday mornings, then I’m going to go All In. No pussy footing around.

 

So when the list went around at the new year to sign up for our weekly duties – Introduce Guests, Lead the Pledge of Allegiance, Make Announcements, etc. – my pen hovered above the paper and I hesitated for a good long while before I signed up for….

And then this happened, and I lived through it! And I had fun! It wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t perfect, but I tried something new, I became a performer in my own little world, and my fellow Rotarians’ hearing should return to normal in a couple of weeks, according to the doctors…
